School Report Card
Letter from the Principal
Dear Indian Trail Elementary Community,
The North Carolina Department of Instruction releases statewide accountability results for each school in the district. These scores determine our School Performance Grade. The North Carolina School Report Card includes important information about each individual school as well as student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, student discipline, instructional resources, and teacher quality.
Our school's full Report Card will be made available on the NC School Report Cards website. We are proud to share that during the 2024-2025 school year we exceeded growth and had the highest growth score of 91.9% since 2014. This means students, on average, made more academic progress than expected in a year’s time based on state measures. Our school performance grade for this year is a "C", falling short of achieving a "B" by less than one point, but exceeding growth highlights the hard work of our students and staff and affirms that learning is happening at a high level for students. This accomplishment is worth celebrating and shows that together, we are making a powerful impact on student learning.
Based on our school results, we have a plan to continue making strides to develop and refine our reading and math skills. At Indian Trail Elementary, our plan will focus on three key areas: 1) academics; 2) culture; and 3) safety. Each of these areas contributes to the development of the whole child and impacts overall academic performance.
-
In academics, our focus remains on strengthening literacy through best instructional practices and the continued application of the Science of Reading. In math, we are enhancing small group instruction and continuing to provide high quality lessons through the 3E math model. We will be utilizing tutors and Master Teachers to provide targeted support for students.
-
In culture, we are focused on increasing parent and community support by increasing opportunities for shared partnership. This means providing families multiple entry points to participate through volunteer opportunities, parent workshops, and school events. We want our families to feel valued and supported by our school. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that families are true partners in the growth and achievement of every student.
-
In the area of safety, our priority is to create a school environment where students feel seen, supported, and secure. We are intentionally building strong, trusting relationships with students so they know there are adults who care for them and are invested in their well-being. Through PBIS, schoolwide recognition opportunities and morning meetings, we will celebrate student success and ensure that all students understand expectations and experience consistent support.
We are asking all of our families to partner with Indian Trail Elementary School by:
-
Ensuring students arrive at school by 7:25am as the day begins at 7:30am
-
Demonstrating a positive view of education at home
-
Encouraging reading
-
Maintaining consistent communication with your child’s teacher on current performance and areas of improvement.
-
Using similar language to our schoolwide SOLE expectations and the 7 Habits
Our theme this year is ‘Here We Grow’ and the data proves it. Growth is happening in our classrooms every day. Together, we’ll keep turning that growth into achievement, because our students deserve nothing less.
